the girls' room

Oh, the fun of having GIRLS!  I have to say, when we found out we were having a second girl, I was over the moon excited.  I would have been happy either way, but the thought of two sisters close in age made my heart pretty happy.  It also made things much easier when it came to decorating their shared room, lol.  Anyway, I've had so much fun decorating and putting this room together.  It is a special space in our home and I thought I'd share it with you...
(All items are listed at the end.)

Before we adopted Allie (our oldest) and we didn't know what gender we would get, I decided to paint the room this deep gray color, with the plan to accent with either pink and white or light blue and white.  I saw the color on a friend's blog in her home and loved it.  I really like it paired with all the pinks, whites, and golds in their room.

The Bible verse has been above the crib during both babies and is one of my favorite elements of their room.  A lot of prayer went into the journey to find Allie and the journey to have Jovie, and we are so thankful for the gifts we received in each of them.

The canopy adds so much to the femininity of the room.  I'm not gonna lie, I was a Pinterest junkie when I found out I was pregnant with Jovie and knew I'd have to transform this room into a shared big-girl + baby room.  And all the princess canopy pictures I ran across gave me ALLLL the feels.  Plus, I knew we'd need to concoct something special for Allie to move from the crib that she loved and slept so well in to a new bed.  The whole "this canopy was made for a princess like you" factor helped a TON.

I absolutely love these butterflies I found at PB Kids.  They were so easy to apply and stick really well.

We saw the precious giraffe painting in a very dear friend's house and complimented it, and she told us she had painted it, and then told us to take it home!  We love that we can see it now every day in our daughters' room.

Another dear friend made the bow board.  Initially I just thought I'd love it mainly for the decor factor, but gosh it's so practical and nice to not have to dig through a mess of a drawer to find a certain bow or headband!

My grandmother passed away three days after Jovie was born.  We were able to take home several precious possessions of hers, including these bunnies and bench.  They were in the playroom at her house for as long as I can remember.

This room has already held many sweet moments with hopefully many more to come.
Here's to princess canopies, dollhouses, pink, and sweet sisters!

Allie's bedding here and here
Ribbon banners: I got them on Etsy about 3 years ago, can't find the exact ones, but there are a ton of similar ones on there.  You could also make them if you're super crafty :)
White and grey hearts storage bins: TJ Maxx

Crib, rocking chair, bookshelves, giraffe painting, bow board, bunny bench, name banners, changing pad cover, "sister" wood hanging, "let her sleep" hanging: all gifts or hand-me-downs

Dresser and crib bumper are from Babies R Us :( but there's probably something similar at other baby and furniture stores...
