God answers prayer

When my husband, Luke, and I first married we lived in Northern Kentucky. He worked in a college campus ministry. Like every Christian should, Luke has a genuine passion for non-Christians. He befriends and invests in them in authentic ways with real effort. While in NKY, Luke regularly attended a pagan group on campus simply to learn more about them, befriend them, and be a light to them. Around this time which was four years ago, Luke prayed that he could one day have the opportunity to lead a Bible study for non-believers.

Four years later, here we are in West Kentucky, working for a local university. Luke has invested in many of the school's soccer team players, most of which are from all around the world. He has built friendships and trust to the level that he now leads a weekly study with some of them where they can ask or bring up whatever spiritual topic they want. Luke leads them through scripture and helps them learn. The group of guys who come to hang out are primarily non-Christians. An answered prayer. Luke had been patiently waiting for this opportunity and answer, and here he is, right in the midst of it.

It's a beautiful thing to watch your husband step out of the cultural norm of comfort zones and reach out to people. It's a beautiful thing watching him offer and sacrifice his time to disciple other guys. It's a beautiful thing to hear his excitement as he shares with me how the guys are growing. It's a beautiful thing knowing you're married to someone who cares more about the souls of others than the clothes he wears or the success of his career. But the purest beauty of this all... GOD ANSWERS PRAYER. He gives us our heart's desires when we delight ourselves in Him. (Psalm 37:4) And He blows our minds. If someone had told Luke four years ago that he would one day lead a Bible study for athletes from various countries, most of which don't have a relationship with Jesus, he might have thought it too good to be true. It might have seemed like a dream then. God can not only make our dreams reality, but He surpasses what we imagine. THAT is a very beautiful thing.

May you truly believe that God will answer you and exceed your expectations. May you truly believe you are praying to a GOOD, BIG God...
