Word of God, Speak

I've always loved "Word of God, Speak" by MercyMe, but I recently "rediscovered" it and have been listening to it a lot.

For me it has been a source of serenity and focus. I love listening to it on my couch by the window in the early mornings, with premature spring sunshine pouring in on me. I am reminded through the lyrics that I only want and need to be in the midst of God - that it is the most beautiful and productive place for me to be. I am reminded that He often leaves me speechless. He quiets me with His love and Word (Zeph. 3:17). I am reminded that my deepest desire, although sometimes lost, is for my Jesus to pour down on me and continually reveal His majesty. God has been stirring my heart lately in a way like I haven't experienced before. I feel like He is on the cusp of doing something incredible in me if I will simply let Him. More and more I find myself longing to abide in Him, rather than maintain some kind of off-and-on relationship. The world is pulling me in many directions, but I know that all I want is my Jesus. I want the Word of God to be real in me in a new, radical way...

I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

Word of God, speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see Your majesty
To be still and know that You're in this place
Please let me stay at rest in Your holiness
Word of God, speak

I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice

Word of God, speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see Your majesty
To be still and know that You're in this place
Please let me stay at rest in Your holiness
Word of God, speak
