he's funny

One of the many things I love about my husband is how every now and then he says something so off the wall and random that it perpetually tickles me and I usually end up crying from laughter.  Yesterday was one of those cases.  We were having our monthly argument where I try to convice him he really needs to see The Sound of Music and he protests in every way possible.  Then he says, "Sing me a song from that movie."  I proceeded to sing a few snippets from My Favorite Things, and then I sang Edelweiss in its entirety as that was my absolute favorite.  I used to sing it with my Dad growing up.  If you know the song, you probably know that edelweiss is a kind of white flower.  After I finished singing, I asked Luke, "Honey, do you know what edelweiss is?"

He thought for a moment and replied in a child-like voice, "Ummm... kind of like, Cheerios?"

Have you ever been caught off guard and struck by something so funny that when you begin to laugh, nothing comes out because you're already laughing so hard?  This was that moment for me.  And within eight seconds, tears were pouring out.  And then as he always inevitably does, Luke lost it because I was losing it, and he repeatedly said, "Yes!" out of victory of catching me off guard and making me laugh.

All I could think about was:
#1 - The fact that after hearing the entire song and the many clues describing edelweiss, he could only come up with "Cheerios"....
#2 - He implied that there are lots of things in the world like Cheerios, when in fact, Cheerios are kind of their own unique thing.
#3 - This guy loves making me laugh.

I just love that man.

Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever
